Can you give me some examples of simple carbohydrates?

My doctor said I should cut down on them, but I don't know what they are.

Anything with sugar or corn syrup listed in the first five ingredients on the label. This would include candy, regular soda, cookies, pie, cake, full fat ice cream, low-fat ice cream and ices, frozen yogurt, juice drinks (not 100% juice), popsicles, pudding, pancake syrup, canned fruit in heavy syrup, and most pre-packaged sweet snacks.

Simple carbohydrates are digested quickly into your system. Some examples are fruits, fruit juice, milk, yogurt, honey, molasses, and sugar. You can also assume anything with a lot of added sugars are simple carbohydrates as well.

Simple carbohydrates are carbs that have been processed and refined to make them easier to digest. They are found a lot in white bread, pastries, snack foods, candy and soft drinks. Complex carbs can be found in vegetables (beans, potatoes) and whole-grain products.
