Well it is great software for a professional but if you are not one and you have no knowledge of mapping software then forget it. It might not be for you.

If you are a programmer or the in-depth dabbler type that likes to learn how stuff works, then you should be right at home with the available options for GIS work on Linux. One of my favorite packages is Viking; it uses Google Maps for images. With disk caching of the maps, it performs wonderfully with modern GPS pucks.

Linux is a open source operating system. Linux is a good to connect the network system, Linux operating system is virus free, since Linux is open source any one can develop it for further upgrades. it is user friendly and best for network communication
