Desktop publishing is a way for you to create professional looking publications on your computer, instead of having to create mock up physical pages, or lay type. It simplifies the process by allowing you to manipulate graphics and images into the format you want.

Desktop publishing or dtp works over an special dtp program like Quark XPress or InDesign. Both programs do not only store text and images but the positioning as well.
