Borax can be used in laundry but as a booster to a detergent, not a replacement. It actually softens hard water which makes soaps more effective. You can use it to make homemade laundry soap, but 3 ingredients are needed for that: soap, borax, soda ash.

It is just for surface. It contains bleach and it will ruin your colored clothes, by discoloring them and it's also not good for the fabric.

Borax alone acts as a laundry booster. Similar to Biz. Add it to your laundry along with detergent to help your laundry get that much cleaner!

Yes you can! Borax is a laundry booster. It should help brighten your laundry. An additional benefit is that it softens the water of your laundry.
