Lyme disease tests can return a false negative titer. This occurs if the body hasn't had enough time to develop antibodies to the disease or antibiotics have taken effect.

Yes, false negatives may go up to 30%. The reason so is that even though the titers are very specific and pathognomic for diagnosing the disease, the antibodies measured may not be raised until some time has passed or the antibody produced may slightly differ from what the test looks for. However, a negative titer is usually correct.

Lab test alone not reliable because too many false-negatives and false-positives,tests are not standardized. Diagnosed from rash and later neurological/cardiovascular/musculoskeletal symptoms and lab confirmation.

If you have a negative titer for Lyme disease this is a diagnostic result telling you that you have not been infected with the disease. It means that your blood tested negative for antibodies against Lyme.
