Can you combine amoxicillin and alcohol?

I am on amoxicillin and will be attending a party soon and wanted to know if I could drink.

There are no actual interactions between these, aside from alcohol causing poor drug absorption in general. If in doubt, call any pharmacy when you have a drug interaction question.

You could take both, since there are no drug / alcohol interactions. But it is not recommended since you probably shouldn't be drinking if you are sick.

If you read the warnings on the sheet you get with the pills, you will see that you should not drink alcohol with any pills. Especially if you are driving. Once you take the drink there's no turning back, so don't do it to begin with. You can have a great time without a drink.

It is always better not to drink alcohol while taking a course of antibiotics and usually the literature that accompanies the medication will advise the same.

No! Absolutely not! Drinking alcohol while taking any type of antibiotic can not only minimize the effectiveness but in some cases can eliminate it entirely. do not drink on antibiotics!

It's never a good idea to combine ANY medications with alcohol or drugs. Some medications will cause and adverse reaction that is potentially deadly while others will often cancel the effects of the drugs and make them essentially useless. You are obviously on antibiotics for a reason. Just let wait to drink until you are done with the pills.
