Can I use a behavior modification chart to help my son do his homework?

Yes, you can use a behavior modification chart in this instance. Perhaps breaking the assignments down into manageable portions would help, too. Be sure to communicate to your son what is expected. Keep a positive attitude and hopefully he'll find doing his assignments readily has its own rewards.

It depends. Well what you need to do is make sure that the room he's doing his homework in is quiet with no distractions. Help him if he's having trouble. He could be having trouble with his homework and that's why he doesn't do it. If he doesn't do his homework take away his T. V. or video games.

Behavior modification chart can be very effect with homework. A star is earned for each time homework is done by a certain time.

Have a row for "did homework without tantrum", then give him a check or sticker when he does it without throwing a tantrum. If he uses passive aggressive resistance, he gets a line, but no check, so no reward. It also provides a visual indicator of his cooperation on doing homework.
