Question by  JSchro (19)

Can I sue Florida power and light for damage done to my home?

The power company was installing new power polls and in the process they caused extensive damage to my property by allowing tree limbs to fall on my home.

You have the right to attempt to sue anyone in court for damage, if you can prove they are liable then you have a case. Contact a lawyer in your area to start.

If they were clearly at fault, I say GO for it! Ask them for recourse first, and if they won't come through, check with the town, try and save some legal funds- go to an attorney make SURE they pay your legal and court costs, they should have made this right.

You will need to consult a lawyer, the lawyer could tell you how and what you need to do, and if you actually have a case to sue the power company. The lawyer could tell you everything you need to know and if you can actually sue them or not.

There are some instances where power companies do not take reasonable precautions. If there is negligence that clearly could have been avoided that caused damage to a house from their services, they will be held respomsible.
