Poor credit has nothing to do with eligibility for financial aid. A person of great means could have bad credit. Financial aid is based on need, not credit. Complete a FAFSA at www. fafsa. edu. gov , which will determine your need based on your circumstances. The application is FREE and can be made online.

Fortunately, financial aid has little to do with poor credit. Start by filling out your FAFSA to see if you qualify for Federal loans or grants. Then, work with the school of your choice to look at their financial aid options. You may also qualify for thousands of free scholarships online, justy do a search with your favorite search engine!

You can still receive financial aid despite your credit rating, they are unrelated. What is of most concern to get financial aid is how much income you receive, not how much you are in debt.

When most people think financial aide, they think federal student loans and grants. These you can get regardless of credit score, it is private loans where credit score matters.

Financial aid does not take into account your credit score. Instead, the people who review your FAFSA look at your yearly income, the money you have in the bank, you assets, and if you're a minor, your parents' financial information.
