Question by  Lyli (21)

Can I get alimony and SSI?

Answer by  John (9008)

You can get both, but your SSI is likely to be reduced by the amount of alimony over twenty dollars monthly that you recieve, which could reduce it to zero.

Answer by  Gabriel (2146)

It depends on both parties income. As long as your spouses income is greater then yours, even with SSI, you may receive some alimony.

Answer by  Mary (2095)

Alimony is considered income and would count against you in receiving any kind of aid. This would be a consideration for social security.

Answer by  Huntress (1935)

Social Security Income is based on income and alimony is considered an income. The cap is about $2200 a month. If total income is less than that you can apply.
