Question by  Kat89 (34)

Can I dye my hair blonde if I just dyed it brown?

I don't like the brown I just put in my hair, I want blonde hair. Will the blonde dye go over brown?

The color itself may or may not work depending on the two dyes involved. However, it is really not recommended to re-dye recently dyed hair because of the damage the chemicals will do with the double application. Also, some blonde dyes contain a bleaching agent, which could cause an unexpected color combined with the brown dye.

It may not be healthy for you to re-dye your hair too soon. I suggest either going brown for a few weeks before changing color. Better yet, consult a salon for your best option.

It depends on what kind of brown you dyed your hair. If you used a light brown, then you might be able to without bleach. Otherwise, not without bleaching it.

Blonde dye will not just go over the brown, you will end up with some strange results. You cannot just dye hair lighter, you have to bleach your hair to get it lighter. I would advise letting your hair rest for a while first, it is not healthy to keep dying and bleaching.

No, you cannot put blonde hair dye on top of brown. You must first strip the color out of your hair completely and then change colors.

You want to wait at least 2 weeks before colouring your hair after you just did it brown. Since you want it to be blonde you should strip it first.

You're going to have to go to a salon to fix this one. Otherwise your hair will be completely fried.

No. From my experience (which isn't much), if you dye your hair with blonde dye it will just look yucky. I would suggest bleaching it.
