Ear mites tend to be specific to each kind of animal - dog, cat, sheep. Humans can also be infested with mites and get a mange or scabies - but these will be human mites. A cat's ear mites might jump to a human and make an itchy red spot, but not a full-fledged infestation.

Can you even imagine having thousands of little critters running around in your ears??? Thankfully, NO! Humans cannot get ear mites! Ear mites fester in the ears of dogs and cats but are more common in cats. The little critters will drive your pet mad, so see a vet!

Humans are not really affected by ear mites, at least not in the way your animals are. You can get a skin infection from being bitten by the mites, known as scabies. It appears as a red itchy skin rash in humans.

While extremely unlikely, it may be after very close contact with a heavily infested cat. Look for intense itching and a sound like paper being scrunched up.

A human rarely may get a skin rash from exposure to a pet's ear mites but it is extremely unlikely that ear mites will infest a human ear. They cannot reproduce there and will die off.

Its very unlikely that you can catch ear mites from your cat. Ear mites are not contagious and have no way of jumping from animals to humans.

It is not possible for humans to contract ear mites from cats. However cats are able to infect other animals with this infection. It should be treated immediately by a vet.
