All living creatures, including guppies, must have air to live. Without it they die in a few minutes, just like humans. Guppies should have fresh water, preferably with a filter to keep the flow going. This stimulates oxygen flow in the water. A good rule to follow is if a fish is one inch long, it needs one gallon water.

All living things require oxygen. Guppies can however gulp air from the waters surface so they don't need the aerators that are so common in aquariums. That said Guppies do live better in water that is oxygenated.

Yes, guppies can live without an air pump or filter, but you will have to clean the tank every 2-3 days to ensure that they are healthy.

Guppies do not need forced air through a bubbler to live, but they certainly do need clean, fresh water. Water has air molecules in it, which is how fish breathe.
