Varicose veins are not caused by activites like massage. They are caused when excessive strain is placed on the walls of the vein, causing them to lose strength. Jobs that require a lot of standing or sitting can cause varicose veins. In fact, massage can help prevent varicose veins by stimulating blood flow.

This is not true. Please be careful and make sure you receive massage from licensed massage therapist. I have been disabled because my leg veins were severely damaged by unlicensed masseuse. I have to live with this condition for rest of my life now.  add a comment

Getting a massage will not cause varicose veins. However if you have severe varicose veins already then you need to consult your physician to be sure it will not cause any clots that may be in the varicose veins to start moving.

If you get them then you already had them. Massages do not cause varicose veins. The massage would stimulate the blood and prevent varicose veins. Massages are very relaxing and you will go back for more.

I think the people who massage are too rough especially those who do pedicure. I don't let them do it if they hurt me in any way. Legs are tender places and don't need rough handling. I have had broken veins caused by leg massage.
