Firefox is a more secure browser than Internet Explorer for the most part. People recommend it for this reason however it is no completely virus proof.

I assume you are referring to Firefox, a product by the Mozilla corporation. Firefox is known to be faster, more secure, and more reliable than internet explorer, or other browsers. Firefox can also be more secure by using ad-dons such as flash block, and ad-block to prevent unwanted cookies and other media to be downloaded.

Firefox is one of the main internet browsers - I would say second most popular behind Internet Explorer. As far as I know, Firefox doesn't have any special antivirus properties, but it's probably slightly safer than Internet Explorer because it's not quite as popular.

It can, but the biggest thing to remember about viruses it that they can come from anywhere. You should never click on link that you don't recognize. Personally I think google chrome does even a better job of filtering out viruses.
