Can children get trichomonas?

I know that trichomonas is a sexualy transmitted disease and am concerned because the doctor said my son has it.

If your son is an infant, it may be from childbirth (passed on by the mother). If your son is a young child, it may be a sign of sexual abuse. If you son is a teenager it may simply be a sign of sexual activity or even sexual abuse.

I think the doctor said "trichinosis. " Trichomoniasis, which is the disease caused by trichomonas, primarily affects the vagina, so your son probably doesn't have it. Trichinosis, on the other hand, is a parasitic roundworm infection that usually comes from eating undercooked pork or wild game.

You are correct trichomonas is an std. Its only known method of infection is sexual intercourse. You can check on the CDC's website for more info.
