Can breastfeeding affect a negative home pregnancy test?

I think the HPT was a false negative.

Breastfeeding has caused 20 false negatives from first response and other brands. I found that while brestfeeding, hcg can spill over into your bm and not even pass through your kidneys, resulting in negative hpts. I am in fact pregnant, just not sure how far along...

Breastfeeding will not cause false results on a home pregnancy test. However breastfeeding can cause irregular periods which may make it difficult to determine when to take a pregnancy test. If an initial test is negative but you believe you may still be pregnant, test again in 2-4 weeks.

Breastfeeding should not affect a home pregnancy test. It should produce the same results as if you were not breastfeeding. However, home pregnancy tests are not 100% accurate, so you should always get a urine sample with your doctor just to be sure.

Hormones from breastfeeding do not alter home pregnancy tests. Your period will realize you are exclusively breastfeeding and it is taking time out. doc's check up is the best advice.

No, breastfeeding will not result in you having a negative HPT test, however breast feeding can result in your menstrual period being delayed or not starting at the time you think it should as well as prevent you from ovulating. For the most part pregnancy test are very accurate. Make sure you use first morning urine.
