Sure it can. Hypothyroidism is one of the most common causes of 'secondary amenorrhea' (having no periods for 6 months in a previously menstruating woman). Other common causes include strict dieting, emotional distress, and premature ovarian failure. But before considering these causes, every woman should make sure that she isn't pregnant, breastfeeding, taking contraceptive pills or going through menopause.

Usually, it's hyperthyroidism that causes the menstrual cycle to stop or become irregular -- hypothyroidism often causes more frequent and heavy periods, but sometimes the reverse happens.

Hypothyroidism is more likely to cause irregularly heavy periods than no periods. Hyperthyroidism, on the other hand, can cause absent periods.

Yes, this is a symptom of hypothyroidism. A professional opinion would be needed for this opinion, as it is a very serious disease that needs to be treated.

Hypothyroidism, unlike hyperthyroidism, causes more frequent periods, rather than long times in between periods. In addition, periods usually last longer if a woman has a low thyroid. Another of low thyroid complication often is more painful menstrual cycles. Additionally, girls with hypothyroid often begins her menstrual period earlier than the norm, sometimes as early as nine or ten years old.

It probably can cause a lot of problems for you. I think it can be the cause of missed periods. Or you could be pregnant so go to your doctor.
