Question by  Tressanell (1)

Can a cracked rib go unnoticed in a CT scan?

The doctor says I don't have a cracked rib but I am in a lot of pain.

While anything is possible it does not seem very likely. However, if you are unsatisfied with the level of care you have received you can always seek a second opinion or another primary caregiver altogether. If they provide you with the same diagnosis you should consider taking a few days off and giving your body a chance to recuperate.

depending on the slice thickness selected on the CT scan, the fracture could be missed. Also people normally would be hurting for weeks even if there is no fracture

That can be picked up on a CT scan. It is possible that your bruised your ribs. I have done that and know just how painful they are. If the pain does not go away I would say that you should have it addressed again.
