A cats diet can cause a cat to shed hair when there isn't enough nutrients in the food they consume. There are a lot of brands to choose from that will help promote a healthy cats coat and skin. Like any other pet what is put into their bodies come out somehow whether this is through hair.

I have a cat with food allergies so yes diet could be one of the reasons. Certain breeds are more susceptible to food allergies and will require testing different brands of cat food or even cooking for your cat yourself which I do. An allergy test done by your vet is worth the try.

A cats diet cannot cause a cat to shed hair. Shedding in cats is a natural occurrence. Indoor cats tend to shed more. Outdoor cats shed in spring.

It can, but it would be unlikely. Hair loss in cats is usually caused by an underlying condition such as allergies or thyroidism. Check with a veterinarian.
