Can 504 plans be requested for students with bipolar disorder?

My daughter will be entering her junior year and I need to know if the 504 plans will accommodate her.

That depends on what state you are in. In South Carolina, the answer is "only if it is affecting your son or daughter's school work". If you feel her bipolar disorder is hurting her grades, you may request a 504 plan. If it *is* affecting her grades, it's possible a teacher will request one.

The doctors both medical and psych need to fill out the documentation that bipolar disorder is indeed present in a student. The parent, student and teachers then will need to have an IEP or Individual assessment program for the specific requirements.
