At the Battle of Little Bighorn, the Souix Indians defeated the 7th Cavalry Regiment under the command of Lt. Colonal George Armstrong Custer. Custer had previously served with great valor in the American Civil War.

The Sioux, together with Northern Cheyenne indians, were lead by Sitting Bull. They defeated the 7th Cavalry, led by General Custer, thus the battle is known as "Custers last stand. "
