There are no nervous disorders unique to rat terriers, but many dogs, especially smaller breeds, have anxiety problems. A vet may be able to help you with medication for the dog. Believe it or not, dogs can take drugs like valium and respond very well to treatment. Just be sure you try behavioral modification first.

There are no nervous disorders that are only associated with rat terriers. Your dog should be fully checked by a vet to make sure it is healthy and does not have any parasites and to make sure it is up to date on all of its vaccinations.

Terriers as a breed are high strung animals; they need patience, training and reassurance of their place in the family. They will sometimes urinate unexpectedly due to nerves.

Rat Terriers are small dogs and tend to shake a lot, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're nervous. To calm your dog down you might want to try peppermint tea or brewer's yeast.
