Are there any benefits to consuming foods that contain phytosterols, if so what are they?

Phytosterols occur naturally in vegetable oils, especially corn oil. According to the FDA, it has the benefit of lowering cholesterol and thereby reducing heart disease. The proper daily amount would be. 4 grams eaten twice a day with meals.
