Prior to 1933 gold coins were available in $5, $10, and $20 denominations. However, the U.S. is no longer on the gold standard, and the amount of gold in a $20 gold coin is now worth over $1000. You can get 5-dollar gold coins from a coin dealer or ebay, but you'll spend a lot more than $5!

There used to be, as they were minted in the United States from 1795 to 1929, but many were melted down, since the amount of gold in them exceeded the $5 face value. About the only way to obtain one would be at auctions or coin shows.

The US Treasurey does not currently mint 5 dollar gold coins. The reason is due to the value of the commodity vs. the size of the resulting currency. Five dollars of gold is barely enough to make a solid droplet. However you can purchase non-US currency 5 dollar gold coins that contain diluted quality (3-5 carat).

Yes there is actually a five dollar gold coin. They actually coat a lot of money. You can probably find them on eBay or places that sell gold.
