Are salty foods good for a slow thyroid?

Too much table salt can make a slow thyroid function even slower but we do need iodine for healthy thyroid function. A better idea is to very sparingly use regular table salt and use sea salt instead.

Low thyroid function is caused by lack of production of thyroid hormone. The only way to correct this is to take thyroid medication to get the levels right. Lack of iodine in the diet can cause low thyroid function. Iodized salt is the most common dietary source of Iodine.

Craving salt is a common and eating more salty foods tends to raise your body temprature. Please have your doctor check for iodine deficiency.

Salty foods can cause your blood presure to go up. But I don't think it is any good for thyroid problems though. Your best bet is to talk to the doctor about it, they have the information you need to have. Best of luck to you. Hope this helps you out.
