A solitary snake, also known as the corn snake,this snake is not poisonous, and is a popular pet among snake lovers. A proficient climber and hunter, this snake is a constrictor, grasping and crushing small animals, birds, and bats before swallowing them. It is a farmers asset as rodent control.

As far as snakes go, red rat snakes are about as not dangerous as they get. By nature they are fairly docile and passive. Compared to other snakes they don't often bite and don't get too large in size. For these reasons, they are often kept as pets.

No. These snakes are actually a very gentle species. They sometimes are labeled as 'dangerous' because they bare a striking resemblance to the copperhead snakes which are highly poisonous.
