Are pick-up campers expensive?

A decent camper is going to run you about a grand. Most are tested extensively before they leave the factory. Leakage should not be a problem. The main concern is the installer, are they a reputable business, how long have they been in business, are there any complaints from other customers? This I would do before anything else.

They can be when purchased new. Used campers or a few years old or used can be bought at a good price. They can leak if not used for awhile.
