Impatiens are used as an annual or perennial. This flower enjoys light to full shade and a moist soil. They come in many beautiful colors such as, lilac, pink, rose, orange, bi-color or white. They can live all summer long without having to deadhead them (removal of dead flowers). However, pick the stems back early to encourage a branching growth.

Yes, impatiens are a shade-loving flower. They will not thrive or even survive in direct sunlight. On especially hot days they should be watered daily in early morning or evening.
