They could be if you're taking medication for the depression. Many times certain pills can cause an individuals blood sugars to increase or decrease depending on the person. Since hypoglycemia is low blood sugar, you may want monitor this and notify your doctor.

Often someone suffering from dietary or "sugar" issues may be diagnosed as depressed or suffer resulting depression. Depression is intrinsically linked with nutrition as well as genetic factors. Depression is not only a situational, emotional problem, but a chemically-imbalanced physical illness and can be successfully treated in that context.

Depression is a symptom of hypoglycemia. When the blood sugar level drops below a certain level, the brain is starved of glucose. Then the pituitary gland sends an urgent message to the adrenal glands to pour adrenaline into the blood stream. Adrenaline converts glycogen into glucose, thus raising the blood sugar level. You will feel depressed when the brain lacks glucose.

I don't believe so I have hypoglycemia and I do not have a problem with depression. I would go see my doctor if you are depressed and find out what is wrong you might have two different problems going on and both are treatable if you seek assistance from a medical doctor.
