Burned food tastes bad, and contains carbon compounds that may irritate the gut and even cause cancer in the far future. If possible, remove the burned portion before eating. A little burned food won't hurt you, but try to avoid burning food if you can.

Some people say the black char on a food is a cancer causing agent. If you mean just a food burn in your stomach or mouth it shouldn't matter.

It is the acids in the food that would affect someones stomach ulcer not the food and the food does not burn the stomach, but the undigested foods can make certain burning effect to the stomach. Spice in food is good for the stomach and blood and digestive system.

Burning foods will certainly destroy much of their nutrient valve. The greater the burn, the more carcinogenic the food will become. If it's just burned on the bottom you can sometimes salvage the dish by lightly removing the unburned portions. Do not scrape the bottom of the pot. The food will be safe although the taste may be affected.
