Bleeding gums can be a symptom of many different health problems. Most commonly it is a sign of early gingivitis and poor oral hygiene. If your child has gums that are bright red and/or bleeding, they will likely benefit most from an examination by a doctor to rule out serious causes or diseases.

No, they just need to brush their teeth more or stop brushing their teeth so hard. Children should be using small, soft toothbrushes. Their gums are really sensitive.

Most likely no. Periodontal disease is more likely. A dentist should be able to fix the problem. Also malnutrition can cause gums to bleed. Flossing between teeth helps get rid of bacteria and can get rid of the bleeding if it is gum disease. A scaling may also be performed by a dental hygienist.
