Even though you have a wired smoke alarm, batteries are very important for the safety of your family. If you were to lose power while you were sleeping your smoke alarm no longer works. Having the batteries give you piece of mind that no matter what you are protected. Keep in mind that you should replace these every year.

Yes, you should always use batteries with your wired smoke alarm system. Should the power in your home go out, you would need the battery back up to warn you in case of a fire. Your fire alarm should always be functional in any circumstances possible, which includes a power outage.

Wired smoke alarms are great for safety but most of them require a battery still. The battery is there to keep the smoke alarm functioning just in case you lose power.

Batteries are indeed necessary for a smoke alarm system. The reason for this is simple. Electrical fires are quite often caused by wires shorting out. As they short out they pop the breakers, this leaves your wired alarms dead just when you need them. You need battery back-up.

Batteries are not "necessary" for wired smoke alarms (since they are wired into the house electricity) but serve as a "backup" in case of power loss (a safe option! )
