Question by  Tori (33)

After a vaccination, how long will it be until my dog can go out?

My dog was immunized against parvo today, and I was told to keep him indoors. When can he go back out?

I have two large dogs in my home both vaccinated against parvo. My vet simply said to keep them indoors for 24-48 hours and not to let them out in public areas (dog parks) until a week or more.

Generally, you want to wait until the second set of vaccinations until your puppy can out into the world and/or play with other dogs. Usually after all vaccination a puppy should be able to go out at 12 weeks of age and certainly be worry free to do it.

If your dog (or puppy) has gotten the parvo vaccination (usually there are three shots), then you should keep it indoors for two weeks.
